Why not the Big Three (GM, Ford, Chrysler) to sell a diesel engine cars in the U.S.?

Are they not able to build clean diesel vehicles, or is it due to the fact that the Big Three are married to Big Oil?

VW sells TDI / diesel versions of their cars in the U.S. which are all high mileage. The new Jetta TDI when driven economically can get 50 to 55 + mpg.

I try to do without spending much money. I have a honda civic 98.

The obvious (and expensive) responses are to get a trailer hitch installed (like $ 150 or more) and buy something real bike carrier (probably like $ 150 or more, I do not know) or get the receiver hitch and a trailer (probably like $ 300 or $ 400).

My idea is to get a roof mount bike rack, and just strap down like a normal bicycle. I say a rear-mount bike rack is not strong enough to withstand the weight. Do you think it works?

Let me start by saying Hydrogen is an excellent option for the concept of free energy. I built my first hydrogen cell about 5 years ago. Have converted over 50 vehicles over the last 10 years (gydrogen and EV) and currently run 2 trucks (and another EV), my water heater to warm the house, cooking and home generator on hydrogen free with caught rain water and using a solar panel for $ 10. On demand h2 generators are a bit different from the Hollywood versions like seen Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, that tend to explode violently every time a film is made. However when used in a demand system there is no storage of hydrogen and oxygen in its gaseous form, only liquid (water) and is only transformed into gas "on demand" small cylinder size amounts. In fact, it's safer than gasoline, so it does not evaporate, creating explosive fumes in the tank like gas. the following were actually taken out of my $ 5 guide available at www com agua-luna

Chemically

1. You'll need a 6inch x 1ft schedule 40 PVC pipe. With pvc cement glue a cap on the bottom and use a screw on cap for the top. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side, near the top, screwing in a small copper faucet. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) hose to the valve and the air intake of the engine (carburetor or injection).
2. Now, a tightening torque of aluminum cans (beer cans, soda cans etc) and place in the PVC pipe with a couple cups of lye (Red Devil drain opens laundry in it, some Clorox and Drano do).
3. Then, simply add water, screw on top and wait a few minutes.

What happens in simplicity is that aluminum and lye do not really long for them to battle, and as always the innocent civilians (water H2O) that most of the victims, by waiving its hydrogen and oxygen. This then accumulates in the vacuum tube and is ready to be discharged in your engine, by opening the valve. You may need to start your gas engine, then switch off after the hydrogen starts burning.

Power is a bit easier then Chemically.

1. Just take a small solar panel 1.5 amps is what I use ($ 9 harborfreight.com), connect the 2 son from the panel + - to 2 conductors (carbon cores of batteries work well just be careful removing it from the jacket), but any conductive material will work ie. Copper, aluminum, steel, etc.
2. Drop the son in a water tank (I use 55gal drums), make sure they do not touch each other.
3. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side, near the top, screwing in a small copper faucet. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) hose to the valve and the air intake of the engine (carburetor or injection).
4. Then, simply add water, screw on the cap and wait.
